Print Deploy
Print Deploy is our primary method of installing the printers on the machine and allows you to natievely print from your computer normally. Please note: this is different depending on Operating System so please follow the below instructions carefully.
Windows Instructions
- Download the Windows Print Deploy client to your computer.
- Open the file
pc-print-deploy-client[osppc.humanities.ox.ac.uk].msi.
- Click Next and then Yes (if prompted).
- Click Finish and sign in using your SSO via Sign in with Microsoft.
- The Papercut Print Deploy client will install the OSP Print service.
- Once installed, choose OSP Print when printing from any application. On Windows, you can print to any printer in the service.
- To release your print, tap your University card at any printer.
Mac Instructions
- Download the Mac Print Deploy client.
- Open the downloaded
pc-print-deploy-client[osppc.humanities.ox.ac.uk].dmg file and run the installer.
- Approve any security prompts if necessary.
- When prompted, sign in with your SSO via Sign in with Microsoft.
- Once installed, click Add Printers. The "My Printers" will be blank at this stage. Click the Install button next to the OSP Classics printer.
- Once installed, choose OSP Classics when printing from any application from your print dialog, then release jobs using your University card.
Linux Instructions
- Download the Linux Print Deploy client. Please note, this is only supported on Debian forks and currently tested operating systems are Ubuntu 24.04LTS and Linux Mint 22.2 Cinnamon. We have no reason to believe that this wouldn't work on other Debian forks, however we haven't tested this. From a support point of view, OSP only supports Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.
- Open the downloaded
pc-print-deploy-client[osppc.humanities.ox.ac.uk].deb file open up a terminal. We recommend that you do not attempt to install this through the App Center.
- Inside a terminal, navigate to your Downloads folder and run
sudo dpkg -i pc-print-deploy-client\[osppc.humanities.ox.ac.uk\].deb and enter any admin credentials.
- When prompted, sign in with your SSO via Sign in with Microsoft. During testing, on some distributions we noticed that during the "we're opening up your internet browser" phase, this does not sucessfully open up this webpage. If this occurs however, restart your machine and on the green papercut icon in the system tray, click "Refresh my printers now" and then click Sign-in with Microsoft again.
- The Papercut Print Deploy client will install the OSP Print service.
- Once installed, choose OSP Print when printing from any application from your print dialog, then release jobs using your University card.
- Linux printing comes with some caveats. While you can print to every OSP printer, regardless of site from the OSP Print queue, only limited finishing options are available.
Web Print
As an alternative, you can also send jobs through a web-interface. This gives fewer options, but does allow you to quickly send jobs from anywhere.
- Go to https://webprint.classics.ox.ac.uk/.
- Log in using the Microsoft option (SSO).
- Select Web Print → Submit a Job.
- Upload your document(s), then select Upload and Complete.
- Release your print at any printer by tapping your card.
Scanning
Two options are available for this, Scan to Email or Scan to OneDrive. To begin, Tap your University card on the printer’s reader and Select the Scan option.
Scan to Email
- Use the Scan button to start the process
- Your scanned document will arrive directly in your inbox.
Scan to OneDrive
- Use the Scan button to start the process
- For the first time that you use this, you will receive an email from scans@papercut.com asking to confirm permission for your OneDrive folder to be accessible.
- At the permissions accepted page, press accept.
- Following the conformation message, this will place the scan in your OneDrive. The location of this is the folder Apps, then inside that Scans from PaperCut MF
- Please note: this acceptance phase only needs to be completed once. Future scans will go straight into the Scans from PaperCut MF folder.
